Data annotation now includes much more than drawing boxes around images. Current projects can involve comparing two AI answers, checking facts and citations, rating search results, transcribing audio, writing prompts, reviewing code or applying professional knowledge in fields such as law, medicine and finance.

The difficult part is not finding a long list of platform names. It is knowing which opportunity is genuinely open to a person working from Kenya today.

This table separates account registration from paid work. A platform may let you create a profile while having no suitable project. A payment provider may support Kenya while the underlying project does not.

A sensible application order

Start with vacancies that name Kenya, Nairobi, Swahili, Somali or your professional field. Tailor your CV honestly, keep the name and location consistent with your ID and payment account, and read the assessment rules before starting. Then diversify: two legitimate profiles on two platforms are safer than depending on one queue.

Never buy an account, borrow an identity, use a remote desktop to appear elsewhere, or pay someone to complete a test. Platforms increasingly verify identity, location and work patterns. Those shortcuts can produce restrictions or unpaid work.

What to expect after acceptance

AI training is project-based. Acceptance usually means entry to a contributor pool, not guaranteed hours. Mindrift explicitly says qualified specialists may remain in its talent pool until a relevant project opens. Build a small practice portfolio, monitor official dashboards and calculate earnings after unpaid reading, qualification time, rejected tasks, fees and currency conversion.
