How to Become a Short-Form Video Editor and Content Clipper in Kenya
Content clipping converts longer authorized footage into shorter edits. A useful editor selects coherent moments, preserves context, corrects captions, follows brand rules and delivers the right technical formats.
Build an original portfolio
Use footage you created or have permission to edit. Produce:
- A podcast-style clip
- An educational talking-head clip
- A product or business explainer
For each piece, include the brief, source rights, editorial decision, caption check, export settings and version history. Do not download another creator's work and present it as a client project.
Define the package
Specify source minutes, number and length of clips, aspect ratios, captions, graphics, turnaround, revision rounds, source-file retention and whether portfolio use is permitted.
AI may help create a draft transcript or identify candidate moments. Human review must correct names, context, captions, claims and sensitive material.
YouTube's monetization policies discuss reused and repetitious content. A clip being technically editable does not mean the client owns it or that a platform will monetize it.
