A portfolio is evidence of ability, not evidence that someone previously hired you. Self-directed demonstrations are legitimate when they are original and labeled honestly.
Use a case-study structure

Strong beginner projects include an inbox triage log, calendar conflict plan, customer-response library, research brief, CRM cleanup, recruitment tracker or weekly client report.
Do not copy another person's portfolio or publish client data. Remove edit permissions and test links in a private browser. A reviewer should understand the problem and output in under one minute.
