Best Outlier Alternatives for Kenyans
Because Kenya is absent from Outlier's permitted-country list dated 15 July 2026, the practical response is to find projects that accept your real location—not to disguise it.
Five places to check
Mindrift: its all-access tasks are described as open to anyone with a computer. Specialist projects require a CV and assessment. Tasks and rates can fluctuate.
Welo Data: the official vacancy board currently includes Nairobi and has shown Somali Data Trainer and quality-control openings. Treat every listing separately; language, location and experience requirements matter.
CrowdGen by Appen: offers project-based data work and documents several payout options. Its current fee table includes Kenyan local-bank transfer, strong evidence that its payment system supports Kenya, but not proof that a project is currently available to you.
OneForma: hosts annotation, data collection, translation and evaluation projects. Check each project's locale, certification and equipment requirements. Official payment guidance lists bank transfer/PayPal through Trolley and Payoneer, subject to configuration and country availability.
Alignerr: focuses heavily on expert work. Its process includes resume upload, job application, phone and Persona verification, then contract and billing setup. Only apply to a listing that accepts your location.
Compare projects, not brand names
Record the project country, task type, quoted rate, pay unit, unpaid onboarding, payment method, fees and expected availability. A USD hourly headline can be less valuable than a modest per-task project if hours are capped or work is scarce.
Never create duplicate accounts or pay an intermediary for access. Apply through the official domain, preserve confirmation emails and verify the sender before sharing ID.
